Church Weddings

Couples wishing to marry in a church must first apply to the Marriage Officer in any municipality in the Republic of Cyprus. When applying the couple must provide :

  • Passports
  • Birth Certificates
  • 'Decree of Absolute' if divorcee
  • Death Certificate if widow/er
  • Affidavit

It is important to note that, for a Catholic marriage to be valid, a registry office ceremony must be concluded prior to the religious marriage.

You should advise the priest of your local parish of your intention to contact the Catholic service in Cyprus, who will in turn will let you which documents you will have to present to the priest who will be performing the religious service.

All relevant documentation for the above must be obtained prior to departure. Ordained Anglican chaplains will conduct the ceremony by prior appointment.

Renewal of Wedding Vows

If you are considering renewing your wedding vows in church, then what better place to do it than Cyprus.

All you need to have with you is your original wedding certificate. The cost is the same as for a church wedding, and no marriage license or affidavits are required.
